Greg Miller elected OFRI board chair

The Oregon Forest Resources Institute said today that its board of directors elected Greg Miller to serve as board chair. Miller has been on OFRI’s board since 2007. Miller replaces Pete Sikora, chief operating officer for Giustina Resources in Eugene, whose term as OFRI board chair expired June 30. Miller also served as chair during an earlier appointment to OFRI’s board. Ray Jones, vice president of resources, at Stimson Lumber Company, was elected vice chair.

OFRI TV ad wins national award

A television spot created for the Oregon Forest Resources Institute has won a Telly Award for outstanding creative production. The ad will receive a Bronze Award in the not-for-profit category when the awards are presented in New York at the end of June.

Volunteer mentors needed to guide students at ‘Live In The Woods Show’

PORTLAND, Ore. – Volunteer mentors from the forest sector community are needed to guide students in grades 5 through 12 at this year’s Pacific Logging Congress 6th ‘Live In The Woods Show.’ The show, which occurs every fourth year, takes place this year on Sept. 15 and 16 at the Longview Timberlands near Clatskanie, Ore., approximately one hour’s drive west of Portland on Highway 30.
