Christmas Tree Showcase The Pacific Northwest is a large supplier of Christmas trees. Discover what trees grow where. The showcase contains over 12 common species. Every Tree the Same Age This forested area features Douglas-fir trees of the same age and is called even-aged. Even-aged forest systems are used to maximize wood volume and value on a relatively short rotation. This area is thinned to maintain tree vigor and health prior to a final harvest clearcut around 2028. Teaming Up with Mother Nature This seed tree forest is an evenaged forest that is thinned but has a longer harvest rotation. At harvest, selected seed trees are left for regeneration. Different Ages and Stages This is an uneven-aged forest displaying a variety of tree ages, sizes, and species. The area will not be clearcut, but managed with thinnings adding to the diversity of the unit.
